Your Partner in Health

Osteopathic Medicine is one of the fastest growing health care professions in the U.S. with 1 out of every 4 medical students enrolled in an Osteopathic Medical School.

DOs complete the same rigorous education and training as MDs, but they receive extra training in the musculoskeletal system, the body’s interconnected system of nerves, muscles, and bones.

Emphasizing a whole-person approach to treatment and care, DOs are trained to listen and partner with their patients to help them get healthy and stay well. They believe there’s more to good health than the absence of pain or disease.

With a strong focus on preventative care, DOs tune into how a patient’s lifestyle and environment can impact their well-being. They strive to help their patients be truly healthy in mind, body, and spirit - not just free of symptoms.

They practice according to the latest science and technology, but also consider holistic options to complement pharmaceuticals and surgery. By combining their skills with the latest advancements in medicine, DOs offer their patients the most comprehensive care available in health care today.

DOs practice medicine differently. They don’t see patients. they see people.

OMT Hands-on Care

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, or OMT, is a series of hands-on techniques used to help diagnose illness or injury and facilitate your body’s natural tendency towards self-healing.

OMT is performed by Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs), fully licensed physicians who practice their distinct whole-person philosophy in all areas of medicine.

Using OMT, your DO can effectively treat your muscles and joints to relieve pain, promote healing, and increase mobility. OMT is set apart from chiropractic and physical therapy techniques in many ways. OMT can be used to complement or replace medication and surgery.

Our Doctors

DR. PATRICIA ROCHETTE. D.O. is on a mission to remove chronic and hard-to-access physical, psychological, and psychosomatic pain from people's bodies, minds, and souls for good. She is the Founder/CEO of East Bay Osteopathic Medical Center, where she specializes in trauma and shock release and has served thousands of clients for 25 years.

Before working with Dr. Patti, most of her clients tolerated living with chronic pain for years, unconsciously holding a pattern that kept reproducing their pain and keeping them stuck. Whether from an accident, a traumatic event, or childhood conditioning, her knack is to detect and remove that pattern and reset their nervous system. As a result, her clients report an overall different outlook on life, including more ease, joy, self-love, and self-respect.

Dr Patti has an excellent reputation as the go-to expert who gets the tough cases when all else fails, so she has an unwavering passion to free people from their restraints. As a childhood trauma survivor herself, she knows first-hand how debilitating multi-factorial pain and body disassociation can be.

That's why she created the Quantum Body Reset™ method, a powerful process for removing and releasing what does not belong and restoring and revitalizing her clients on multiple levels.

Dr. Patricia has a B.A. in Psychobiology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She added an Osteopathic Doctorate Degree from Western Health Sciences University in Pomona, California. Dr. Patti has years of ongoing education and training, including a second degree in Reiki.

When she's not assisting her clients, Dr. Patti enjoys spending time with her two adult sons, practicing yoga and meditation, and delving into metaphysical studies. Her spiritual journey, which includes receiving her spiritual name Satya in India and spending extended periods in Thailand and Bali, has greatly influenced her work. In addition to her home base in Berkeley, California, she spends time in Sedona, Arizona, where she finds inspiration in the red rocks and is currently working on a book on quantum concepts.

DR. RUNA BASU, D.O.  has been in private practice since 1997.  Her practice is best described as integrating osteopathy in the cranial field with her background and training in internal medicine, constitutional homeopathy, nutrition, and supplements.

She began her osteopathic practice in San Francisco with her mentor and teacher, Dr. Eliott Blackman, D.O.  In 2004 she moved her practice to the East Bay.  For the first seven years, she concurrently worked as a hospitalist at Summit Medical Center.

Dr. Basu was drawn to osteopathic medicine while she was at an osteopathic conference where some basic tenets of osteopathy were described.  She recalls hearing the 'body is a unit and has the ability to heal itself.'  With that knowledge, she pursued her studies of osteopathic medicine as a holistic approach to healthcare that is empathetic to the physical and spiritual dimensions of her patients.

Presently, Dr. Basu specializes in holistic healthcare with a focus on cranial and biodynamic osteopathic diagnosis and treatment.

Her practice is primarily hands-on, where her patients are recipients of her extensive training in multiple modalities. With clear and developed diagnostic osteopathic manual skills, Dr. Basu has helped numerous patients through patient education and empowerment while sitting with and in the Health of the patient.

She treats both adults and children and is honored and humbled to be part of your healing process.

Dr. Basu’s experience and training, combining her practice of internal medicine with hands on osteopathic care are particularly suited to helping patients with an integrated approach to healing.

Although she does not currently function as a primary care physician, Dr. Basu is happy to consult with your primary care provider.  The initial 1.5-hour consultation usually involves obtaining a review of your medical history, and a brief physical exam with an integrative medical/osteopathic approach, and subsequent hands-on osteopathic treatment.

ANGELA CARLO L.M.T. In 2011 Angela transitioned from a background in the visual arts to follow a calling to the healing art of massage. Angela received her training from the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA, where she studied various modalities; most notably Deep Tissue, traditional Swedish massage, as well as Shiatsu and Thai. A familiarity with meditation and energy work has also cultivated a deep respect for the connection between the mind and body.

Angela believes massage can work on the whole body: physically, mentally or emotionally, and on the energetic level as well. By relieving tension on these levels, massage can help promote a greater sense of vitality and well-being. Having lived and practiced in the east Bay Area for over ten years, some of you may remember Angela from such practices as the Lolo Health Center (2011-2015) and Berkeley Massage and Self Healing Center (2015-2021). Angela looks forward to working with you.
